POLLOCK INTENDS TO STAY IN RACE

For More Information Contact: Josh Pollock 412 682 1999

Pittsburgh-  Josh Pollock, the 18 year old mayoral candidate intends to stay in the race for mayor despite the current state statute requiring the mayor of a city second class (which Pittsburgh is) to be 25 years of age.  Pollock cites the fact that The Pittsburgh Home Rule Charter has no age requirement and a different residency requirement.  The home rule charter also forbids the city from discriminating for employment against someone over 18 due to their age.  Pollock is discussing with lawyers to explore the possibility of a legal challenge.  Even if that does not

work out, Pollock will still petition his way onto the ballot and asks for the good will of the other candidates, hoping that they allow him to stay on the ballot.  "I hope that the other candidates will allow me to remain on the ballot and let the voters to decide if I am old enough." Pollock said.  Pollock hopes to get his issues out by continuing to campaign no matter what.  Pollock will go on with his announcement of candidacy Saturday at Coolpeppers Hothouse in Lawrencville at 7pm, during a performance by his band Five8Five.  He will talk with the media following his performance.  http://www.JoshForMayor.com , Pollock's website, now displays the parts of The Home Rule Charter that Pollock believes can help him.  He is still unsure of what action he will take, "This came up late last night and the lawyers are still working out a course of action."  Pollock said promising this is not the end of him declaring, "I'm still kicking, they can't stop me this easily, we have already been blown away by what has happened this week, the wide range of support we have received and we believe that this week is proof that anything can happen."

"Its estimated since the time of my youth, depression among children has increased by 1000% and teen suicide by 300%. Since 1997 classroom-assassins have killed two in Mississippi, three in Kentucky, five in Arkansas, and thirteen in Colorado. Make a graph of these numbers and watch them go exponential in years to come - unless we start giving our kids a new way to go and some real hope for the future."    - Daniel Quinn
