Josh Pollock did not grow up on a farm, and he did not grow up in the middle of a giant metropolitan city. Some might argue, he never grew up at all. What he has grown is a big healthy sense of ambition. At 18 years old, he is the youngest and hardest rocking Mayoral candidate in Pittsburgh. Josh Pollock is also a senior at the Pittsburgh High School for Creative and Performing Arts, where he is a guitar major. He plays with several local bands, mainly Joybox and Five8Five, as well as pursuing several other projects. He has been working on a solo CD for quite some time. He encourages you to nag him to finish it. He also claims that, if you listen closely, you can hear him singing on Pearl Jam’s classic CD: Pittsburgh Pennsylvania September 5, 2000. His hobbies include music, music, books, music, playing music, making music, going to concerts and activism. He is an active member of The Western Pennsylvania Committee To Free Mumia Abu-Jamal, a local group that not only works for the release of Mumia Abu-Jamal but also for the abolition of the death penalty. As a self-described activism junkie, Josh has taken part in more campaigns and demonstrations then he cares to count over the last several years. How can such a young person achieve so much? Well, if you asked Josh he might claim that he is a genuine super hero. The truth is that he is willing to sacrifice a lot for what he believes in; in most cases he sacrifices sleep. Ambition runs high in Josh Pollock as any of
his friends will tell you. He lives in Squirrel Hill with his
parents Rita and David as well as his guitars and his dog Velvet.
