Meeting to plan future role for The NewPeople newspaper

The NewPeople newspaper is the monthly voice of The Thomas Merton Center, reporting on the Center’s manifold peace and justice activities and publishing articles on issues of concern to the Pittsburgh peace and social justice community. The newspaper doesn’t serve just the Merton Center, however. It offers a forum for all people and organizations working to better our community.

To help it do this job better, and to better serve its readers, The NewPeople invites TMC members and readers to a meeting to develop a strategic plan for the expansion of the newspaper.

The meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m., in Posvar Hall 5J53, at the University of Pittsburgh.

The meeting will take up all aspects of The NewPeople — editorial, production and distribution. We see the paper as a work in progress that — good as it may be now — can be much better and provide much bettter service to our readers and their organizations.

The meeting is to gather all who are interested in the paper to receive input and form a collective that will meet regularly to produce and distribute The NewPeople on a monthly basis.
