Thomas Merton Center Committees (open to ALL members of the TMC).  By joining one of these committees you can be a part of setting the future direction and identifying priorities for the Center.  The Merton Center relies on the vast talents and energies of its members to accomplish its work!  Please call 412-361-3022 or email info@thomasmertoncenter.org to get involved and help plan events and strategies.

  • Development/Fundraising: Developing promotional materials, organizing events, researching grants, etc.
  • Editorial/New People Collective: Planning, writing, editing, and distribution of THE NEWPEOPLE
  • Finance: Assisting in preparation of financial reports and long-term planning for financial stability of TMC
  • Membership: Organizing membership gatherings and promoting membership in TMC by tabling, mailings, etc.
  • Personnel: Developing policies, grievance procedures, etc. for TMC staff 
  • Racial Justice: Training and activism to promote TMC's commitment to racial justice
  • New Person Awards Celebration (May 11, 2002): committee to organize the event
  • Rock Against Racism (August 17, 2002): committee to organize the event
  • Thomas Merton Award Dinner (November 21, 2002): committee to organize the event
  • Pittsburgh Peace Mobilization Committees (working on the issue of nonviolent resistance to war)
