Tips on Adding Pages for the TMC Website:

1. Copyright.  Do we have copyright permission for the images?  I know from experience that people get can get really pissed if you use their photos without permission.

2. Use a consistant style for each page.  For the TMC website, most of the text is Arial 10 pt, dark blue, except where you want to emphasize something.  Using a consistent style for each page really makes life much easier for the visitor.  Also, it’s best to limit the use of different font emphases as much as possible.

3. Minimize download time.  Down in the right corner of Frontpage you’ll see some text that says something like “15 seconds over 28.8”  This means it takes 15 seconds to download the page with a 28.8K telephone modem, the most common form of internet connection.  This is the most important issue for web design.  Studies show that, on average, you will lose 50% of your visitors if the pages take more than 8 seconds to download.  This, of course, varies with audience, but the rule of thumb is to keep this number around 10 seconds or less by limited the number and size of graphics on the page.

"I am against war, against violence, against violent revolution, for peaceful settlement of differences, for nonviolent but nevertheless radical changes. Change is needed, and violence will not really change anything: at most it will only transfer power from one set of bull-beaded authorities to another."  Thomas Merton
